December 2012

Boy, if you are following this blog you have a lot of patients.  I so easily drop the ball on it that I even forget I have a blog.
Well, I'll give an update here anyway just in case someone reads it.

I have been on my vegan diet now for almost a year and have lost 24 pounds.  I feel great and really don't even care for most of the foods I gave up anymore.  I have been pretty faithful, but have had some slips (no meat though) now and then.  I  can not tell you how important it is to make the change in diet.
All my levels like cholesterol and blood sugar have dropped from WARNING readings into normal!!
Enough about that since this is my jewelry blog I should address that here.

A few typewriter key bracelets

I just finished 2 winter fairs and am now in the creating phases until spring.  I had a pretty good year last year and hope to do so again.  I am still enjoying making my vintage watch pieces, but the most popular items this year have been the typewriter jewelry.  I want to do more this the watch faces now and will post some pictures when I get a few finished.

Off to the Fair

Hi again---I'm trying to be consistent with this blog so ....
A necklace of turquoise and amber
I've been learning to solder and trying some new techniques.  I love that fact that there is always something new to explore and create.  I am off to the Oregon Country Fair tomorrow and I'm sure to see many new things and get fresh ideas for items to make.  This fair has been going for 37 years now and is one of the major venues for artists and crafters as well as musicians.  I'll take pics and post a few when I return.  Till then be well and dream on.

Missing in Action

I've been very lax lately about keeping up with my blog---sorry.
I'll do a quick update here and then try to do a better job of posting more often.

I have participated in 3 summer craft fairs so far and still have a couple more.  The next one is in Chester on August 4 and 5.  This is a great fair with high quality items and a beautiful setting so if you can make it come by my booth and say hi.  I just learned how to include photos on this blog spot so I'm posting a pic of a "Bee on Time" pendant.  There will be much more to follow soon---Come back and see me sometime.

The new and improved me

So after being sick for almost 3 months on and off, I decided to do something about my life style.  I viewed a couple of videos about the American diet and thought that I could benefit from changing my eating habits and going vegan.
It has been almost two weeks now and I can't  believe how much better I'm feeling.  I have more energy and am actually exercising again.  I've lost 3 pounds and am sure I'll be able to adjust my weight to a healthier level. I know that it will effect my creativity in a positive way too.  One of the benefits of this life style is a clearer mental state.
I'll keep you apprized of my progress .

Even More

It looks like I may be the only one following this post, but it gives me a place to journal my thoughts so I'll keep posting.  I'm planning on being a vendor in the Roses and Rust spring show on April 7th at the Redding Convention Center.  I will go from there to the Mc Cloud Flea Market the first Sunday in June and on to the Mt Shasta 4th of July street fair.  I have a good amount of new items and more of my old standards; silverware jewelry, antique watch jewelry and vintage typewriter key jewelry.  Looking forward to a good year ahead and seeing many of my friends out there.

More

So it took me a few minutes to learn how to create post number 2.  I can see this will be a learn as you go type of endeavor.
I'm working on some new items and styles of jewelry.  I get bored very easily so I'm always exploring.  There are many ways we can be creative, but this works for me for now.  I plan to start drawing and painting again one of these days, but the main thing is to get into that special creative space and let it guide you.  I can pass away the hours when I'm in the studio and all my worries and troubles disappear.
It's sort of like a sacred well for the spirit to drink from and come away renewed and refreshed.  Plus you get good stuff made:)  I'm off for a walk now with my little buddy, Nash.

The Beginning

Well, I guess I need to give this a try or fall behind the times.
I decided to focus on my jewelry design and creation, but I may stray to other subjects as time goes by.
I began making jewelry in 1995 as a hobby and a way to have more jewelry for myself.  I just could not afford to buy all the pretty baubles that I desired unless I started making them myself.  I now have way too much and so I sell on ETSY and in a few stores as well as at craft and art fairs.  I have been selling my creations since about 1996 or 1997.  I now do this as a small business and since I retired last year I'm even more focused and creative.  I plan to use this blog as a place to share my inspirations, adventures and trials as not only an artist, but as a woman in a small home-based business.
Welcome to my world and I hope you find something here to entertain, amuse or inspire you.
